You may remember Farfalla from one of my viginettes--one of Arune's comrades. In The Video Game, she becomes a merchant--only the type of merchant that sells rare items (or items that don't normally appear until later and key items you accidentally sold) for cheaper than you would get them in a store.
This also sets up a potential sidequest--find treasures for her and be handsomely rewarded--and finding every treasure nets either a rare spell or Arune's ultimate weapon (not sure which yet)
